Germany coach, Julian Nagelsmann, just joined the list of managers to lose their job following the nation’s Round of 32 exit at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Germany failed to progress to the Round of 16 after losing against Paraguay on Monday.
According to a report from Bettingvoice sport, the German Football Association has announced that Nagelsmann has resigned as head coach of the German national team.
Coach Nagelsmann now joined Ronald Koeman (Netherlands), Sebastián Beccacece (Ecuador),Miroslav Koubek (Czechia), Hong Myung-bo(South Korea) and Steve Clarke (Scotland) in losing their jobs after their teams’ exit at the World Cup.
What Nagelsmann said after resigning, “I am deeply sorry that I could not take Germany far at the World Cup moments and that I fell short of your expectations.”
According to reports, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann informed senior officials of the German Football Association (DFB) in a private meeting that he intended to resign after Germany's exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which was jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Nagelsmann, who was appointed Germany's head coach in September 2023, enjoyed a promising start to his tenure. He led the national team to the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2024, where Germany's campaign came to an end following a defeat to eventual champions Spain.
